Here’s an excerpt of today’s Virtual Book Tour stop at Cherylyn’s blog “Mamas and Babies.” Author, Lani Axman, shares her thoughts in a guest post: “When Place Matters.”
One of the things we keep hearing from people who have received their copies of the book is just how beautiful it is. It really is. Our graphic designer, Marie, did a fabulous job. It seems fitting that words about such a beautiful subject would be housed in beauty, inside and out. Here’s a sneak peek…
Today’s guest post is by Susana Fierro-Baig who writes the blog Spirit-led Birth and who is in the process of writing her own spiritual birth book called ” Spirit-Led Childbearing: Applying Principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Pregnancy and Motherhood”. I think it is so wonderful that there are more and more people
When I start feeling sorry for myself or overwhelmed by all the day-to-day problems and concerns in my life as a wife and mother, it often helps me to think about my great-grandmother, Cassie.
This is a re-post of a post I wrote for the blog about two years ago this time of year. When I wrote it we had just hatched our first clutch of little chicks. It was an incredible experience and one that we have done several times since. Spring is my favorite season because it
This was one of the early Latter-day Saint birth stories I collected for the book. These two women, Maggie Ellen Black Rowley and her friend Louella Washburn, were some of my favorite midwives to study about. They were life long friends and worked as midwives together. When I first read their stories two years ago
I have been intently studying pregnancy, childbirth, and many subjects relating to them for over eight years. In my studies, I have learned so many things about my own body and the male body that have strengthened my testimony of God’s grand design. God has given us so many powerful tools right within our own cells to assist us and guide us. I feel so strongly that I need to teach my own children how their bodies were designed to work and how to use the tools God has imbedded within us. Let me explain just one of those tools…
Today’s guest post comes from Sarah Clark. Sarah is a mother of four, a natural childbirth educator, and she blogs at Mama Birth. I discovered Sarah’s blog a couple of years ago. We were pregnant with our fourth babies and due around the same time, so it was fun to share that journey virtually together. Then one day I figured out that she was also a Mormon. I think it was this post that finally gave it away. What a fun surprise! One of the things I love about Sarah is her fabulous sense of humor. She reminds me all the time that I need to remember to laugh on a daily basis. Thanks for that, Sarah.
This week’s birth stories come from our Latter-day Saint birthing history. They illustrate beautifully that God cares deeply about each birth and that we are given divine aid and protection as we participate in the sacred work of giving life to His children.
Today’s post comes from the archive. I love this post because it discusses a topic so important to me. Allomaternal care saved my life when I was a child. If it hadn’t been for the loving care of many substitute mothers, my life would certainly have gone in a far more dark and troubling direction. Thanks for highlighting this important subject, Felice! -Lani
